Legend has it that a shepherd and a beautiful girl fell in love in Lycia; her father exiled the girl to Meis Island. The shepherd climbed the mountain every day to look at the island, and at one point, when he lay down from exhaustion, he melted and turned to stone from longing. The "Sleeping Giant" you see when approaching Kaş from Meis is him. He still waits for his beloved's return. When you look at Meis, you see the girl; they long for each other, separated by only 3 miles of sea. It is the closest Greek island to Turkey. It offers a different experience to its visitors with its colourful pastel houses, calm harbour, narrow streets, and peaceful Mediterranean atmosphere.
